All eyes were on Kaka and CristianoRonaldo
But the second half was all Madrid as Ronaldo scored twice in 16 minutes before Sergio Ramos and Jose Callejon sealed an emphatic victory for the reigning La Liga champions.
Winger Di Maria was the first to make his mark on the narrow pitch midway through the first half, hitting a stinging volley past Christian Abbiati in the Milan goal following a weak clearance.
However, for all their posession, Madrid went into the half-time break level after a fine touch from Antonio Nocerino set-up Robinho in the 33rd minute. The Brazilian made no mistake with his first-time finish to make it 1-1.
Ronaldo netted his first goal five minutes after the restart after being released by Lassana Diarra. On 66 minutes, Ronaldo sealed his brace as Gonzalo Higuain played in substitute Kaka who created the chance for the Portugal international to give Madrid a comfortable advantage.
A Kaka corner was then headed in by Ramos before Callejon rounded out the scoring four minutes before the final whistle with Kaka again constructing the goal-scoring move.
Meanwhile, AC Milan and Real Madrid officials appear set to meet over Kaka's future in the coming days with the playmaker heavily linked to a return to the San Siro this summer
