Boxing Legend 'Professor' Azumah Nelson has told XYZ Sports that he is
not surprised at the abysmal performance of Team Ghana at the 2012
London Olympic Games.
The former two-time WBC super featherweight
Champion predicted defeat for the boxers even before the games took off
and was criticized by some members of the National Sports Authority.
Three of the four boxers who represented Ghana at the games lost their
respective bouts while the fourth boxer withdrew due to injury.
Speaking in an interview with XYZ News, the 54-year-old legend
attributed the boxers failure to inadequate training and preparations.
“The training that they have is not good, their preparation is not good
and how can you expect a medal from people like that because none of
them knows what they are doing.
“If Ghana wants to go far in boxing
then the country has to be serious in the sport because we have the
talent but the talent has to be published” Azumah Nelson said.**
