The
Minister of Information, Fritz Baffuor, has described calls for
investigations into events before the death of Professor John Evans Atta
Mills as an intrusion into the privacy of the late President.
Many
are demanding to know details of what happened hours before the death
of the President at the 37 Military Hospital on July 24, but Mr. Baffuor
feels the timing of the demand is inappropriate.
He said: “We
should have a sense of discipline and a certain sense of purpose. We’ve
got to bury this man and after we bury him, we can look at all these.
The information that has been given I think is enough.”
According
to him, if people want investigation or a report, “you can ask for
those things but the most important thing now is that we have to be very
careful of the sensibility and the sensitiveness of the family because
if you bring certain things into the public domain now, it could affect
the family.”
The Information Minister also described the late
President as a kind hearted man who was surrounded by aggressive people
who sought to protect him because of his calm nature.
He noted
that most of the harsh criticism meted against the late President was
uncalled for and unfair saying, “when you have somebody who is very
peaceful and very calm, and you have people who love him, and they
realise that the man is calm and people are pillorying him, they even
become more vehement than the attackers. It’s a human condition.” |
