...and Sam Atta Mills wept

As many people line the streets of Accra, weeping and wailing at the majestic procession of the remains of the distinguished former President of the Republic of Ghana on Wednesday morning, the people whose tears cannot be dried by all the tissue papers in the country are his son, Samuel Atta Mills, and wife Dr. Ernestina Naadu Mills.

This was visible as the cortege arrived at the seat of government, Osu, Castle at about 8:45am. Officials at the Castle wept bitterly and his close friend and Chief of Staff, John Martey Newman, could not hold back his tears.

He prayed for God's guidance for the soul of a man he described as a man of God.

Koku Anyidoho, who served as the Director of Communication and is considered by many as a son to the president sobbed like a baby.

But what was most touching was when Samuel Atta Mills, son of the late President walked up to the casket containing his father's remains and touched it. Even with a dark shade one could feel his pain and his tears as he has lost a father, a friend and a mentor.

Secretary to the President, Mr. Bebaako Mensah could not hold back his melancholy. Even soldiers who worked with him as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, were left completely dejected.

More soon.
