The Dutchman saw his side succumb to a heavy 4-1 defeat at the Cairo Military stadium in their Group B match.
Pluijm says he is determined to improve his side for the return leg in a fortnight.
“Of course we have to feel very disappointed with the performance because even though Al Ahly is a quality and experience side, we should not have lost by that score,” Pluijm told Storm FM.
“We wanted to score a goal so we created a lot of chances but luck was not on our side and they took advantage of that through some individual mistakes by our defence.
“We could have also use an advantage that normally they have over 60,000 supporters but this time they were not there and things also got bad for us.”
Chelsea now lie third in Group B on four points with three games left.
