After a summer of significant spending brought the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have begun the new campaign in impressive fashion, and currently sit at the summit of the Premier League.
However, Roman Abramovich's reputation precedes him, and many would appear to assume that Di Matteo will be chopped by the Chelsea owner, should wins prove harder to come by later in the season.
GMF polled over 44,000 football fans to ask them which of the Premier League's traditional 'top six' managers they predicted would be the first to lose his job in 2012-13.
Of those to vote, 28 percent believe Di Matteo will be sacked by Chelsea during the campaign, although the greatest surprise of the poll came in the amount of fans who are backing Sir Alex Ferguson to leave Manchester United.
After a quarter of a century during which he has achieved unparalleled success at Old Trafford, Ferguson would seemingly have one of the safest jobs in football.
But an astonishing 27 percent of Premier League supporters envisage the Glazer family informing Ferguson it is time to pack his bags, although these are votes likely to have been cast more in hope by some than expectation.
The manager with the safest position, according to the fans, is Roberto Mancini after he led Manchester City to their first league title in 44 years with a sensational final day victory last season.
Besides Di Matteo and Ferguson, Villas-Boas is the other boss supposedly walking a tightrope, and his indifferent start at Tottenham will have done little to allay fears that the Portuguese was not the right man for the job after his failure at Chelsea.
Villas-Boas collected 21 percent of the vote while Brendan Rodgers, another summer appointment, has the support of Liverpool fans, with only nine percent of them believing he will be relieved of his duties.
Arsene Wenger, meanwhile, has faced one of his most difficult summers during almost 16 years with Arsenal, but is expected to recover and retain his position for at least another season, with only eight percent predicting the sack for the Frenchman.
