Man City set to sign five

Manchester City have completed three signings on transfer deadline day with the captures of Maicon, Scott Sinclair and Richard Wright, whilst Javi Garcia and Matija Nastasic will join imminently.

City manager Roberto Mancini will be happy with his business, following a slow summer, which had only seen Jack Rodwell sign.

Garcia, 25, will join following the completion of the appropriate paperwork, but a fee has been agreed with his current club Benfica. The midfielder began his career with Real Madrid before moving to the Portuguese giants, where he has played since 2009.

Serbian defender Nastasic moves to England from Fiorentina, with City misfit Stefan Savic heading in the opposite direction, along with a fee of £9 million. The 19-year-old impressed for the Viola last season, and is seen to able to fit into the new City formation of 3-5-2.

Maicon, 31, previously worked with Mancini during their time at the San Siro, and moves to Eastlands for a fee in the region of £3 million. The Brazilian right-back has won 66 caps for his country, and will join up with his new team-mates following international duty.

Sinclair, who represented Team GB at the 2012 Olympics, said this summer that he would not sign a new contract at the Liberty Stadium and was looking to leave. Swansea rejected a £6.2 million offer from City on Tuesday, but a restructured offer of a reported £6.2 million with add-ons that could see the fee rise to over £8 million was accepted.

Sinclair, 23, excelled at Swansea after struggling to make the breakthrough at Chelsea. He was an integral part of the Swansea side which earned promotion to the top flight in 2011 and also impressed on their opening season in the Premier League.

"I'm just glad everything is settled and that I'm now a City player,'' Sinclair said. "There were times when I thought it might not happen so I'm relieved that I'm here and I can't wait to get started.

"Playing alongside some of the best players in the world is exciting for me and when you see two Champions League fixtures against Real Madrid on the horizon, it brings it all home.''

Want-away Sinclair came on as a substitute and scored in Swansea's opening day 5-0 destruction of QPR a Loftus Road, but was omitted from Michael Laudrup's squad as the Swans followed that up with a 3-0 cruise against West Ham.

Richard Wright has also penned a one-year deal with the Premier League champions having left Preston earlier this summer after just a week with the club.

The 34-year-old has one cap for England, and will provide cover for Joe Hart and Costel Pantilimon at City.
